Sometimes the best way we can connect between each other isn't exactly with chatting, it can simply be through our body language that can make the connection that much greater. Than can truthfully be said in the short film that the incredibly sexy and talented Sam Hendi created two months back, called "MASS: C19H2802", which examines that with close to a dozen bearish type models in a fourteen minute film where the absence of voice is right and center and all you are left with is a visual masterpiece of the human body.
I have been a big fan of Sam's for a while, as I have also seen another short film that he did called "Trunk", which has a completely different concept but gets its own point across as well. According to its press release, MASS was originally created as a short film to be exhibited at BRÜT (the hottest bear scene club in London). This collaboration helped to define BRÜT’s visual identity. MASS worked along side BRÜT, extracts from the video was used as promotional material such as trailers, and stills for flyers and posters. The full length version of the video plays every night on giant projector screens throughout the club. The artistic flare of MASS makes it stand out from your usual club backdrop videos. It celebrates the uniqueness of BRÜT and the diversity of our bear culture showing different ages, size and shape.
BRÜT is a popular party that is not only based overseas, but also is one of the biggest parties in the New York City area as well. Sam's concept behind MASS is simply stunning, from my own point of view. When a video is made, you usually have to have some type of sound in order to engage the audience. In this particular video, all you need is a whirling sound throughout the background of the entire video to really exemplify the connection between each guy that is filmed. It also highlights the human body in many different ways that are of course sexy but also visually appealing in more ways than just to turn you on. Everything from the chest to the legs to the beard are shot in a beautiful way that keeps you focused from the first shot to the last.
It really is a very interesting point of view, that I have yet to see captured on film in this way. The models in this video include Sam but also has Barry El Beardo, Christopher Cragg, David Goldenberg (also produced and directed), Gianni Persello, Heath McIntyre, Louis Kwong, Paul Adams and Ross Jones, all in their beautiful glory.
