When it comes to beloved queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race, one word that comes to mind easily is Katya.  Katya was one of the breakout stars of season seven for so many different reasons, in particular her hilarious personality, comic timing, great fashion, and openness about her troubled past.  It made the choice for Miss Congeniality that season a no brainer, to the point where there was even a fake out at the finale for her to win over the real winner, Violet Chachki.

It wasn’t too much of a shock when the RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars 2 cast was announced with her name in it.  Kind of expected, especially in my eyes.  Katya, along with finalist Ginger Minj, are representing season 7 to the fullest in what can only be the most jaw dropping season of Drag Race yet.  With new twists and turns, it should be one heck of a season.

All this week, Manhattan Digest will be interviewing each queen from the new season, which premieres on LOGO this coming Thursday night.  In our exclusive with Katya, she chats about the potential Kai Kai with Trixie Mattel, her experience with herpes, and more of her hysterical nature.  Take a look!

What was your reaction when you were asked to be on the new season of RuPaul's Drag Race All Star's Season 2?

Well to be honest the first thing I did was pee myself but that was not necessarily in reaction to All-Stars that's just something I do whenever anything happens. Then I dried off and got really excited.

How has your style evolved since being on season 7 of RPDR?

Three concepts immediately come to mind: racism, white privilege and systemic oppression. But in terms of my personal style since season 7 I've started to wear a lot more flowy florals. I feel good about that.

Spill the tea: What can we expect from you in the new season?

Audiences can expect a slow but deliberate transformation from coquettish ingenue to fully confident monster she-demon determined to burn the competition to the ground.

If your life could be a movie title what would it be?

Titanic Part 2.

If you could pick one queen from this new season to Kai Kai with, who would it be?

Trixie Mattel. She wasn't technically on this new season but my attraction for her has clouded my vision with a host of erotic wrong perceptions beyond my control. I see here everywhere, and thus always am sporting a formidable erection.

What is the best and worst thing that has happened to you since being on RPDR?

Best thing: herpes. Worst thing: herpes.

Marry, shag, kill; RuPaul, Michelle Visage, Ross Matthews?

I'd marry them all and then kill them one by one in a romantic fire lit embrace on a shag carpet.
