New York City has been the mecca of places to bring in the New Year since we can remember. I mean, people come from all over the world to experience the true essence of Times Square and get road blocked by millions just to share that kiss under skyscrapers. Well if you're from New York you may be slightly over the whole Times Square thing and want to venture out. There are so many places not far from the city and right out of Manhattan that have just an intriguing NYE tradition, just without all of the tourist and chaos that comes with midtown this particular day. Here we will provide you with a list of places to ring in 2017 where you'll be guaranteed to have a equally good time.

SayBrook Point

Saybrook Point, located in Old Saybrook, CT is for the group who want to ring in the New Year on a relaxing note. This is the ideal place to come and reflect on everything that transpired over the previous year and aspire for positivity in the upcoming year. Saybrook Point offers marvelous packages for New Years weekend, hoping that you arrive in December for an anticipated weekend of excellence and fun. Great Wolf Lodge Pocono

Great Wolf Lodge Poconos is located about 1.5 hours from New York City and is the ideal place to celebrate NYE with your family. Every year on that fateful night they present an annual snowball party that is guaranteed to have the children along with the adults let loose and join in on the fun. During the soiree, everyone will be treated to magic acts, balloon twisting contest, and face painting to keep everyone enthralled.

Outside of the snowball fight, Great Wolf Lodge has a indoor water park where the temperatures reach 84 degrees allowing you to forget about the frigid weather outside. They also have rides to suit any level of thrill seeking and if those are not your thing then there are "cool cabanas" to relax in. NYE is not about the adults anymore, the children want to join on the fun as well. This is the perfect place for them with endless options of fun to partake in.

Mohegan Sun

Ringing in the New Year here is for the group who is anticipating a night filled with excitement and Mohegan Sun offers plenty. Where else can you go and gamble at one of the many casinos on the premise or indulge at one of their fine dining options. If you're not the gambling type that is fine cause there is always an event happening here and NYE is no exception.

That evening Jay Leno will stop by the Sun Arena where fans/guest can laugh their way into the new year. You'll be so ecstatic from laughter that the next possible thing for you to do is party. In the Uncas Ballroom around 10:30 one of Mohegan Sun's biggest parties will begin to ring in 2017 with a champagne toast and a complimentary breakfast buffet at 1 am.

Coney Island

I know some may be saying "Coney Island?"  However for the past couple of years the area has started a tradition of their own for NYE. There are plenty of people who live in the outer boroughs who may not have the time or patience to handle a Times Square evening. Here you still get the city flare just with a beachy Brooklyn vibe to it. The boardwalk is open therefore all arcade games are up for grabs. And if you get there early enough you may be able to ride some of their iconic rides for free. Last but not least at the strike of midnight there are fireworks that go off to let you know that we have entered a new year filed with new possibilities. The location is ideal for any and everyone from families to couples.
