Empire Steak House, with two different locations sprawled throughout Manhattan, is proof that sometimes the classics are what's best in the Big Apple. We found ourselves at the Midtown East location this past Saturday night, where myself and a friend were treated to some delicious steak, seafood, ambiance and more to make the overall experience really something special.
The Midtown East location, which is conveniently a block away from the 51st street 6 train stop, is everything you are looking for when it comes to a good steak house. Generally, for me at least, steakhouses have a large presence space wise, yet keep the noise volume to a somewhat minimum so you can really enjoy the overall atmosphere of what it is presenting. Empire Steak House definitely does this, as the overall landscape was quite appealing to the eye while still having the ability to relax and focus on the meal at hand.
You are greeted to a gorgeously decorated bar for the after hours crowd, which enamors itself with a sophistication and elegance that only Manhattan can truly encounter. Towards the back is where the restaurant is, which highlights the brown and blue colors that engulf this particular part. It reads as regal without being too stuffy, and the service we were provided with was top notch.
This being a steak house, of course the one thing you should get... is steak, but there are a ton of other great options on the menu for you to enjoy.
I am a sucker for all things shrimp, and keeping with the "classic" theme that I have mentioned throughout this article, a great starter for this is their scrumptious Shrimp Cocktail. The Shrimp are massive, taste fresh and go very well with their spicy and delicious sauce.
For those who are looking for a combination platter to enjoy with your company, I would highly recommend their Empire's Hot Platter, which consists of Shrimp Scampi, Stuffed Mushrooms and Clams. The sauce with the Shrimp (yes, I seem obsessed, but they are that good), was divine, and I really enjoyed the texture and taste of the clams and the hearty bite of the stuffed mushrooms.
Now, onto the steak. Empire Steak House has a ton of fantastic steak cuts to choose from, depending on the kind you like and your price point. Everything from Porterhouse, Sirloin, Ribeye and even Wagyu beef is served there to your liking. I opted with another classic, Filet Mignon, which was cooked perfectly and served with some deliciously tasty Mashed Potatoes as a side course.
Granted, if you are in the mood for a pasta option, then we recommend that you try their Lobster Ravioli in a mouthwatering pink sauce. Each bite of the ravioli is bursting with fresh lobster flavor, and goes perfectly well with the rich sauce. A great alternative if you aren't jonesing for a steak.
To finish off the meal, why not indulge in something decadent and try their "Holy Bull" Hot Fudge Sundae, classic in every way and a fabulous end to a great experience.
