It's always nice when a new neighbor opens its doors in Manhattan, and Royal 35 Steakhouse is definitely no exception. The brand new location, right in the heart of Midtown East on East 35th Street between Madison and 5th Avenue, has just opened its doors for the public less than a month ago and is already becoming the talk of the town for so many different reasons. I stopped by there with a friend over the weekend to experience it all, and was left feeling satisfied in more ways than one.
Something that Royal 35 Steakhouse does so well, amongst other steakhouses in Manhattan, is that they keep everything pretty classic. From the decor to the menu, it is exactly what you expect when you enter an establishment like this, but they have some nuances that separate them from the pack.
For instance, most steakhouses stick to very mute coloring on the walls, tables and more. I was impressed by the royal blue color that adorned the walls throughout that really elevated the look of Royal 35 completely. The location itself is two floors, with a gorgeous bar located right inside its entrance. The back is not overtly large, but doesn't need to be, and the service was exquisite from start to finish.
Also, you get a taste of what you are going to be ordering right when you get inside, as right before you get seated for dinner you see the variety of top of the line steaks that are being prepared for you that evening. They use pink Himalayan salt for each of the cuts, which definitely made the overall taste of the meat that we tried so much better.
The dinner menu itself was to the point and highlighted the best of the best in terms of surf, turf and sides. Here is what we recommend you try the next time you are at Royal 35. I am a sucker for a good soup, especially with how cold the weather has been, and their Lobster Bisque was simply divine. It had such a thick base and the lobster itself was quite delicious. A great starter if I must say so myself.
They also have a fantastic line of seafood, which is fairly evident given the photo you see above. We opted for their scrumptious Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail. As mentioned before, sometimes the classics are what work, and in this case, it did and then some.
Obviously, this is a steakhouse, so naturally we dove right into two different cuts that worked phenomenally. The one that I opted for was their New York Strip Steak (seen above), prepared medium and cooked flawlessly. It has a ton of great juicy flavor to it that makes for one heck of a steak. Another cut that we tried was their Filet Mignon, which had a similar taste effect in each bite we took.
They also have a wonderful line of sides, available at your disposal that compliment the steak itself. We opted for their sauteed Asparagus and yummy Mashed Potatoes. Both great options that we highly recommend trying.
Overall, Royal 35 Steakhouse exceeded our expectations and then some. Go and try for yourself! For more information, check out their official site.
