The Rainbow Room has got to be one of the most iconic locations I have ever been to in the city of Manhattan. It's sort of hard to figure out where to begin just to describe how beautiful and elegant this space is, as the minute the elevator doors opened on the 65th floor inside Rockefeller Center left me and my friend completely speechless. I took my friend there this past Sunday just to experience how incredibly awesome it truly was, and was left feeling so many emotions but most of all the feeling that we just experienced something that is truly special.
The Rainbow Room is truly versatile in what its uses are, not only just for its incredible a la carte brunch. If you are planning a big Manhattan wedding and want to spend it there, have at it. If you have a big birthday or event coming up and want to use their variety of rooms inside including their 620 Loft & Garden or Bar SixtyFive, then be prepared to have the time of your life. You really escape into a world full of color and space, with panoramic views of Manhattan done like no other.
Their Sunday Brunch is something truly to be seen. Two tips for anyone who is going: come hungry, and come looking fabulous. Dress up in your Sunday best as even the outfits that I saw so many people wearing really added to the flare that is The Rainbow Room's true essence. You are treated to live musical entertainment as you sift your way through the endless options of high quality food for you to dine and delight in, it sort of becomes your own unique version of Supermarket Sweep or even Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as there is so much to see and divulge in.
With this menu, you either have the option to walk around and peruse the amazing food they have, or order off their a la carte menu, featuring the best of the best in omelettes (The Lobster and Caviar is the best), entrees, fresh off the griddle, and their own selection of benedict dishes.
For me, I prefer to roam as I was so fascinated by the incredible amount of food they had. They have so many different types of stations, including my two favorite: the carving and crepe stations, where I indulged in a Nutella Crepe and some of the best Turkey, Ham and Cranberry Sauce I have ever had in my entire life. If you want to take a dip into the seafood route, they have everything from clams and shrimp with your arrangement of sauces and spritzes to elevate the taste of each even further.
Waffles, Dessert, Fresh Fruit and more further encompass The Rainbow Room's brunch, making even the most fussy of eater's life that much less complicated as it would be tough to find something anyone wouldn't like. Overall, this place gets a 10/10 for all of those reasons and then some, and they definitely earn the status of "icon" in Manhattan.
For Easter this Sunday, they have a special brunch that you should try if you don't have any plans as of yet! Easter additions to the menu include Roasted Black Angus Prime Rib or Beef and Colorado Roast Leg of Lamb. Seating is available from 10:30am to 2:30pm. $125 per person excluding beverages, tax and gratuity. Reservations and proper attire required.
