There is something about the smell of BBQ that just screams summertime bliss. If you're like us and continuously on the search for the best BBQ then look no further thanks to Mohegan Sun inaugurating the summer season with their annual Sun BBQ Fest.
Taking place in the Winter Parking Lot on Saturday, June 3rd to Sunday, June 4th, this weekend long event highlights many local vendors, food trucks and beer trailers with a dose of some live music! No BBQ is complete without the live music of course! New Yorkers are constantly looking for a getaway to escape the insanity of the city and Mohegan Sun is the place with it being just a train ride away, a tranquil ride away.
At the BBQ Fest, guests can anticipate to indulge in many samples from 20 participating Kansas City BBQ Society teams with their vote counting towards the best at the fest. The competition continues throughout the day with a rib contest from 12pm to 2:30pm proceeded by a wing challenge from 6:00pm to 8:30pm. What better way to enjoy a BBQ Fest than watching other BBQ lovers compete in the best way possible to see who is going to eat the most!

For $5 you to can join in on all the contest tasting festivities by being able to sample 5 wings or 5 ribs then judge at the end. Also, a portion of the proceeds will go to the Operation BBQ Relief! Knowing that all this overeating will be done for a cause may help you with the guilt of overeating that day, ha!
What goes hand in hand with a BBQ? If you said music, then you're right. Live music will be provided by Jay Dempsey Band, Will Evans Band, Green Tea Band and Southern City Band to keep that summer vibe going. And towards the end of the night there will be a spectacular fireworks show to conclude the evening.
