Manhattanites need to head north and see what Harlem has to offer in terms of the delicious types of food they provide. Here are four shining examples of that.
Clay: 553 Manhattan Avenue
Clay, located on Manhattan Avenue in a truly gorgeous part of Harlem, has only been open for a year but has made itself a welcomed part of the neighborhood. Clay prides itself on its intimate setting, with warm lighting surrounding its entire premise giving it a much more relaxed vibe throughout.
They source their food locally, something that has become a major trend here in Manhattan, and provide some scrumptious and tasty meals including their Chicken Breastwith potato, heirloom rainbow carrot, nigella and chicken jus and their Cauliflower with tumeric and honey. La Chula: 137 E. 116th Street
After enjoying success at their Grand Central Terminal Location, La Chula made its way north only a year ago to the delight of hundreds of locals and visitors to this heavily visited Harlem area.
La Chula’s chef Julian Medina prides itself on authentic Mexico City-style tacos and ceviches, both of which are done in a truly fantastic way with items like their Costilla and Pastor tacos. The former comes with rotisserie pork adobado and the latter is stuffed with beef short rib. Cove Lounge: 325 Malcolm X Boulevard
Located a block away from the 2/3 line at 125th street, Cove Lounge provides a great duality of delicious food and amazing music that will get your heart rate going for a variety of reasons.
The menu is a mixture of small and large plates, something that’s become a major trend in and out of New York City. Shareable options that are worth diving into include Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes with Mango Salsa and Honey Sriracha Crispy Cove Wings. If your energy is still alive and kicking after all that delicious food, then head towards the back where the lounge is where you can kick it with your friends while enjoying some old and new school songs to party the night away to. Angel of Harlem: 2272 Frederick Douglass Blvd
Angel of Harlem's Caribbean-inspired menu and vibes were an absolute delight to try last summer. The whole location has a major "island" type presence, which counteracts wonderfully with the gritty streets of NYC.
The food, going off the Caribbean thing, works beautifully as the tastes in each dish transports you out of the city and (hopefully) into someplace a lot more tropical.
