New York Fashion Week is officially underway, darlings! As crazy and hectic as the festivities are going to be, we should never ever forget to feed ourselves in order to keep up with the pacing and energy that will occur. Sweetgreen, with several locations across Manhattan, is a great place to stop by amid all the chaos as their tasty items will fill you up in a satisfying yet healthy way.
Something that is on the rise in New York City, outside of New York Fashion Week, is the amount of fast-casual places that are popping up all over the place. What's even better is that these locations are not just serving some crummy burger/pizza/burrito options that have little to no health benefits, they are sourcing quality and meaningful ingredients for our taste buds to indulge and our bodies to benefit from. Sweetgreen is one of those spots.
Their tagline is "inspiring better communities," which is totally the case after experiencing my first time there with a friend earlier this week. We battled the nasty late summer heat that NYC has been giving us to stop by their location outside Bryant Park on 42nd street between 5th and 6th avenue.
What I love that Sweetgreen has done is providing a bevy of items, from bowls to salad, that don't read as "healthy." It's more the opposite, as my first glance at the menu was more like "YAS!" than anything else.
Their seasonal salads alone are absurdly delicious. Try their Peach & Burrata salad which comes with local peaches, burrata, tomatoes, red onion, basil, roasted almonds, organic mesclun, shredded kale, balsamic vinaigrette. Not a fan and want to go a tad spicier? Their Summer BBQ option is just as amazing. The ingredients in that are Blackened chicken thighs, watermelon, raw corn, shredded cabbage, shredded carrots, cilantro, chopped romaine, shredded kale, green goddess ranch. Umm... what?
A warm bowl is still amazing no matter what the temperature is outside. I tried their Fish Taco, and it hit the spot in all the right ways. It came with roasted steelhead, shredded cabbage, cilantro, tortilla chips, warm quinoa, organic arugula, sweetgreen hot sauce, lime cilantro jalapeno vinaigrette. I added sweet potato to it, which only made the flavoring in the entire bowl taste that much greater.
Sweetgreen is also popular among some of the biggest models working today including Karlie Kloss and Nina Agdal. So perhaps you might spot one of them this week while you stop by the many fashion shows at NYFW? Who knows!
