American Housewife happens to be one of the funniest sitcoms on television right now, and Daniel DiMaggio only enhances just how hilarious this show can be.

His role as the money obsessed, preppy and uptight Oliver blends incredibly well with the rest of the zany characters that make up the Otto family. This includes his stuffy professor father Greg (Diedrich Bader), consistently frustrated mother Katie (Katy Mixon), and couldn't-be-more-different sisters Anna-Kat (Julia Butters) and Taylor (Meg Donnelly).

Over the past three years, Oliver has done his best to rise above the middle class family that he lives with onto something much bigger and better financially and life wise. His snarkiness that is exhibited in each episode is truly hilarious and helps make this family sitcom one to watch each week.

I spoke with Daniel recently about the show and what's to come for season 3. Take a look.

What can you tell us about the new season of American Housewife?

Well, first of all it’ll be our best season yet. All of the characters have great story lines and if I gave you specifics there would be too many spoilers. I’ll tell you this – there will be singing, there will be dancing and we’ll have a full season with our dog Luthor. Oliver will continue to grow – literally as I’ve grown a lot since season 2. He will continue to scheme and dream and I look forward to the journey. As of right now we’ve done seven episodes and I don’t even know a lot of what specifically is in store for him. But it’ll be great.

Have you enjoyed playing your role of Oliver for the past couple of years and are you anything like the character?

It has taken some getting used to, playing a preppy kid. I don’t dress like him and I’m not obsessed with money. I’m sportier and more casual. But we do share some things in common. We both want to go to a good school and be successful and we’re both sarcastic. I have changed a lot over the years. I started as a kid and have become a teenager. Oliver and I have been through it all during these past three years together and there is no one I’d rather have by my side. It’s interesting to grow up as a character on a TV show.

What's it like having Katy Mixon and Diedrich Bader as your pretend parents?

I’ve learned a lot from working with them. I didn’t know much coming into this experience, but they welcomed me with open arms and considered me family right away. They have both been on successful series and done a bunch of movies. I think anyone would want to have the careers they have, so the fact that I get to work with them and benefit from their experience is a great opportunity and a great learning experience. Plus, they’re fun and we laugh and have a great time on set.

Do you think there's still a major void for family sitcoms on television today?

I think there’s always room for a good family show. We get a lot of messages from our fans telling us how much they relate to the stories and our characters. The writing is so good and it’s so much fun to play. All of the shows on our night are family shows so it looks like we’ll see more.

Anything else you have going on outside starring on a major ABC show?

The show keeps me very busy but when I’m not working I enjoy good restaurants, hanging out with friends, and almost all sports. I also like to keep up with what’s happening in movies and TV since that’s what I do. I want to continue to work in TV and film. It’s been a great ride so far.
