There are a bazillion sushi spots in New York City to choose from however Kintsugi, located in the South Village, goes above and beyond in this area of food with each creation they make.

It takes a lot, especially in the world that we are living in today, to get me out of my apartment. The absolutely frigid weather we have to endure because of indoor dining being closed isn't exactly appetizing however exceptions must be made.

Kintsugi is one of those exceptions. I hopped on the A train to Canal Street where this lovely hotspot was about a block away on Grand Street. It's an area of the city I don't travel to that often although that might be changing given how fabulous my experience was there with my two hungry friends last week.

They thrive on what's called omakase ("let me choose for you") sushi. In other words, you need to trust the chef that's making your sushi as they do a damn good job at it.

What's even better is the amount of sushi and roll options you get to try. They also have over the top specials for you and your guests to enjoy while you nestle underneath the numerous space heaters that will keep you warm during your dining adventure.

For instance, you can try their Rush Hour which comes with 9 selected Classic and Seasonal Nigiri along with a Chef's Choice Handroll. Want to dive a little deeper? Their Somo Omakase will do the trick. Here you get a Seasonal Appetizer, 13 Classic and Seasonal Nigiri, a Chef's Choice Handroll, Tamago, Gourmet Miso Soup and a Seasonal Dessert to end your meal. Yum.

The Signature Handrolls that evening were beyond scrumptious. They were topped with hearty and savory ingredients like Aburo Tori and Smoked Uni that were divine, delicate and delicious all wrapped in one insanely delicious bite.

If you're looking for something a little heartier then their Donburi Rice Bowls will fill you up and then some. Their Tekka Don (tuna) and Unagi Don does the trick as each comes packed with a ton of flavor amid their perfectly cooked fish.

More information on Kintsugi can be found here.
