New York City, Manhattan more specifically, is a great place to be for so many things and there is endless options with what one can do for a weekday or a weekend. Even though we are supposed to be getting hit with 5-8 inches (and not in the good way, tee hee) of snow this coming weekend, it shouldn't mean that we are going to keep ourselves locked in our apartments with Ramen noodles and episode 5 of Making a Murderer! BroadwayCon- Friday to Sunday- The New York Hilton Midtown
BroadwayCon is a lot like Comic Con, only nerdy in a stage sense and not a Dungeons and Dragons sense! The best of the best on and off Broadway are scheduled to appear over a three day period in the midst of panels, concerts, keynotes, performances, workshops, autograph opportunities and so much more. "On the Riviera" screening at MoMA (Museum Of Modern Art)
Premiering this Sunday at 4PM at MoMA in their Titus Theater is 1951's "On The Riviera" starring Danny Kaye, Gene Tierney, Corinne Calvet and Gwen Verdon. Per MoMa's site- "Though unbilled in the main credits, Cole protégée Gwen Verdon features prominently in this dance-rich Fox Technicolor movie, as she leads nominal star Danny Kaye on a world-dance tour that includes Cole’s signature version of Hindu jazz in “Rhythm of a New Romance.” Cole's dark side surfaces in the creepy, pseudo-whimsical "Popo the Puppet." As Busby Berkeley had done 20 years earlier, Cole completely commandeers the mise en scène from the mediocre director of record for an amazing finale, aptly titled "Happy Ending." Sirloin Sunday- Rise Bar, 9pm this Sunday
If beefy type guys are your thing (they should be, sorry/not sorry) then you should definitely check out Sirloin Sunday, happening this coming Sunday at Rise Bar. $7 drink specials with one of my favorite DJ's Corey Craig spinning the best of house, disco, and classic dance with some of the hottest men in NYC all available at your disposal.
