There is nothing like planning a mid-winter getaway for you and friends to obliterate the worries of your everyday life at home. This winter Mohegan Sun initiates their 14th Sun Wine & Food Fest, taking place January 27th-29th inside the Uncas Ballroom.
This means an entire weekend filled with events highlighting multiple brands of wine/beer, live cooking presentations and let's not forget the gambling, if you're into that. With this year's experience having a much larger food presence than the years prior, this means guest will have a better opportunity to intermix with other wine enthusiast while learning.
Friday embarks all of the fun with a Bourbon Tasting featuring an array of fine bourbons from around the world. At this event guest will have the opportunity to dine on exquisite hors d'oeuvres while sampling many of cigars.
Later on that night award winning chef and TV personality Aarón Sánchez will be hosting a Mexican Night Market. What more can you ask for, with this being an ideal way to begin the weekend with a party where you get to test different Mexican cuisines.
Saturday is the day for true wine aficionados with the Grand Tasting & the Elite Cru Tasting. Here guest will be able to sample over 1000 wines and beers with the opportunity to witness celebrity chef demonstrations from Aarón Sánchez, Michele Ragussis and more.
In the evening the Celebrity Chef Around event is where chefs such as Todd English, Rocco DiSpirito, and Roblé Ali will be on-hand serving up their best recipes at several live cooking stations.
The weekend caps off with a special Brunch with Batali hosted by recognized and respected chef, Mario Batali. The affair will feature standard brunch dishes with a Batali spin to it, all prepared by the man himself! And if that is not enough all patrons will go home with one of his best-selling cookbooks, Mario Batali - BIG American Cookbook.
If you ask us, this sounds like the weekend to escape to Mohegan Sun. Now that Mohegan Sun's Earth Tower is open this adds another 400-rooms to the resort property to help alleviate the Sky Tower’s high occupancy level.
