When the word "Rosé" comes to mind, naturally it can turn my frown upside down, which is exactly what happened this past Friday.  My friend and I went to the Rainbow Room's Rosé Pop-Up. Currently, it is only popping up this month on Aug. 23rd, 24th and 31st (Bar SixtyFive at Rainbow Room is opened year round) and it was just announced that it will be extending into September on the 19th, 21st, 22nd and 25th.

Full disclaimer:  I highly recommend that you show up at least 1/2 hour early to your reservation as they are so packed and people are very slow to leave their tables.

The night was all about rosé, so my friend and I made a beeline to the bar to see what they had in stores for us.  I suggest starting with one of their Rosé Cocktails like the Rosé-Watermelon Sangria. Mas Janeil Rosé of Syrah, Remy Martin 1738, Watermelon Juice, and Mint Syrup.

This was the perfect cocktail to start our rosé extravaganza. A refreshing palate cleanser that truly makes you think of summer.

We then had their Rosé-Inspired Specials:

The Frisky Oyster - Rosé Granita, Candied Grapefruit, and Pink Peppercorn. I LOVE oysters. The rosé granita added an icy refreshing quality to the texture while the peppercorn kinda made my tongue numb.

Black Cod Skewers- Rosé and Caramel Marinade, Champagne, and Miso Sauce. Black Cod is probably one of my favorite fishes. Buttery and flakey, I have never had a bad Black Cod and the Rainbow Room's did not disappoint.

Montauk Scallop Crudo - Rosé Pickled Kumquat, and Prosciutto. Scallops are a hit and miss with me. You overcook them and the dish is ruined. If they aren't fresh they are disgustingly fishy. These were not either of the case. Raw and oh so fresh! The pickled Kumquat added flavor and balance to this dish.

You can also order off of their main bar menu:

Tuna Poke - Ahi Tuna, Crispy Nori, Sesame, American Caviar, Lime-Chili Mayonnaise. This was a beautiful piece of fish, but it wasn't good poke. It severely lacked traditional poke flavor. I could not for the life of me taste the sesame, and it lacked salt, which I assume the Nori and Caviar were there for.  Of course, my friend and I ate it all because it still was a beautiful appetizer... they just shouldn't call it poke.

Triple-Cooked Fries served with Béarnaise Sauce. These were freaking awesome and I'm not just saying that because I'm basic... however, do you know what goes great with fries? Rosé Champagne. To be specific Thierry Triolet Brute Rose, NV, and La Caravelle Brute Rosé, NV. Seriously folks, it is a wonderful combo of pure decadence and trailer-trash in the best way possible. It's akin to getting a chocolate frosty at Wendy's and a side of French Fries. It's that good, but bougie good.

We then moved on to their Tipsy Treats: Rosé Ripple Float - Rosé, Vanilla Rosé Ice Cream. This is my new favorite float!

Strawberries and Cream - Macerated Strawberries, Short Bread and Rosé Cream. This dessert will leave your mouth questioning what you just ate and wanting more.

Champagne Donut Bouquet - Rosé Sorbet, Champagne Icing, Gold Dust and Cotton Candy. This was my favorite dessert. I am a sucker for donuts!

If you are a fan of rosé like me, you really don’t want to miss this pop-up. It really makes for a fun evening out! For more info please visit their website.
