"What's this? What's this? There's color everywhere What's this? There's white things in the air." Jack Skellington, the protagonist of Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas, sang these lyrics in the hit animated film.
Visitors to the New York Botanical Garden may be asking themselves the same question when they arrive to the gates of the beloved Bronx institution. Now until November 30th, visitors can watch the movie spring to life with over 8,300 square feet of scenes throughout Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Light Trail.
Broadway producer Jeffrey Seller (who currently has six productions of Hamilton playing worldwide) brings a theatrical flair to the garden along with Madrid based, LETSGO founder Iñaki Fernández. Fernandez and his team carefully designed the work to include optical illusions, projections, and Danny Elfman's magical score--all of which are sure to captivate garden goers. Christmas and Halloween collide as guests pass statues of Skellington, Sally, the Mayor, Oogie Boogie and other favorites.
It might be too much for little ones, but die-hard fans of the film and those who like a cool evening stroll through one of New York City's finest jewels will not be disappointed.
The New York Botanical Garden is located at 2900 Southern Blvd, Bronx.
