New Yorkers rarely go for country music, but the gay community knows that queers are society’s true tastemakers.
This weekend, Brooklylnites and other city dwellers will see why when the Brooklyn Paramount opens its doors to out country artist Orville Peck. The recording artist signed to Warner Records earlier this year and launched Stampede, a North American tour that began in Asheville in May and ends this weekend in Brooklyn. Peck is scheduled to perform on Saturday and Sunday.
The masked singer has disclosed more of his face since launching onto the music scene in 2019. Since then, he has sung and recorded with some of the biggest names in the industry including Beck, Elton John, Kylie Minogue, and Willie Nelson. Peck has also been a judge of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Of course the internet is often rife with tall tales, but setlist.fm suggests that he’ll perform these songs. Whatever. The velvet throated crooner could sing a business card and we’d still swoon and wobble in our boots.
Tickets are limited but it’s worth trading in your favorite rhinestones if it means wrangling your way into the Paramount for a weekend that promises a foot stompin' good time. Saddle up, buckaroos!
