Simple, straightforward and delicious are just three terms I can describe when it came to my experience at The Wilson in NoMad. Their take on American cuisine blended right in with the overall ambiance and experience I had when I stopped by there right after the Christmas holiday.

The Wilson is part of the In Good Company hospitality chain which also has some other fabulous restaurants to dine at including Park Avenue Tavern and Trademark Taste + Grind.

Nestled in the heart of NoMad on W. 27th between 6th and 7th (blocks away from Penn Station and a short distance off the 1 train), The Wilson prides itself on providing a wonderful dining experience amid an absolutely beautiful location.

The room that we sat in was lit to perfection given that we went on a cold winter evening. The Christmas tree that was situated right behind us only elevated how gorgeous the space was, which fit perfectly with the gorgeous furnishings that were easily to view from the moment we walked inside.

The food itself was quite spectacular as well. Manhattan has become a place where there are so many trends and fads that just seem to make eating an educated chore of sorts that I really cannot stand. The Wilson's approach to their menu is easy, fun and focused with the idea of creating warm and tasty American dishes that everyone can enjoy.

Sunday’s are for comfort food | Lamb Meatballs
A post shared by The Wilson NYC (@thewilsonnyc) on Oct 28, 2018 at 4:59pm PDT

Start your meal off with their Merguez Lamb Meatballs that is served with a side of golden raisin pesto and yogurt. Make sure you get an order of warm bread as well as the pesto/yogurt combination is to die for either by itself or when you swirl it together. The meatballs were cooked to perfection and made for a great starter for what was to come.

The Wilson has a great variety of sandwiches, mains and salads available at your disposal. I thoroughly enjoyed their Sea Scallops that came with nduja (spicy) vinaigrette, broken potatoes and celeriac. Scallops are a tricky dish to make as they need to be cooked at just the right level. These were and then some, and paired wonderfully with the supporting cast of the potatoes, celeriac and vinaigrette.

If you are more in a pasta kind of mood, then their Blue Crab Carbonara will do the trick. There is some spice due to the Calabrian chiles they include but it makes for a wonderful plate of food along with the basil crumbs and guanciale (Italian cured meat). Definitely a place you are gonna want to stop by this year and beyond.
